Cozumel, Mexico
Mexico: a land of diverse culture, music, and color. What comes to mind when you think of Mexico? Maybe it’s dancing, food, or drinks; maybe it’s all of those or none of them…
I would have to say Mexico is all of the above, and Cozumel definitely made me realize it. If you’re in Cozumel, there are so many things you can do, and I’m here to share my experiences and encourage everyone to travel more!
San Francisco Beach is the place to be in Cozumel. A short taxi ride from the cruise terminal will get you to one of the many beaches on the island, and they’re the perfect place to detox and have some fun.
At San Francisco Beach, there are many activities: you can use floaties and pool noodles to float around in the refreshing water, or you can snorkel in the deeper waters. Additionally, you can have tons of fun on different floaties that are all spread out in the ocean. Parasailing is also a must-do. Next comes jet-skiing which is simply and absolute blast! If you ever find a jet ski, take it to the ocean! Also at the beach: amazing food and drinks that are authentically Mexican and extremely delicious! To add yet another activity at the beach, you can go banana boating- which is a crazy experience where you sit on a banana shaped boat that’s being pulled by a speed boat. The goal of the game? The driver of the speed boat must get you to fall off the banana, and your goal is to stay on. I should mention- the speed boat captain never loses!
If beaches aren’t for you- then you can come to Cozumel downtown and explore the shops. A lot of handcrafted clothing and jewelry can be bought here, as well as beautiful showpieces and artwork. On virtually every block in downtown, there is magnificent food for anyone to enjoy. If you don't want a full meal- coconuts are the way to go! Sip some tasty coconut water by the water, and enjoy a beautiful view with a great sea breeze.
My day at Cozumel consisted of so much to do, and I was exhausted after it. Getting back on the Norwegian Joy was so exciting, but I was sad that our last port had come so fast. After this, we headed back to Miami, where we’d get off the ship and head home to New Jersey. Until next vacation… keep calm and travel on!
